Meetings
This page explains what our meetings do, and how members can participate
Purpose of meetings:
The Currarong Community Association ordinary general meetings offer a venue for members and visitors to hear what’s happening, particularly about plans for future events and projects, and about liaison with entities like the Shoalhaven City Council, the weapons range, state or federal government and others. Recent guest speakers have included the local mayor, council members, federal defence officials, and the federal member of parliament.
The annual AGM hears reports and elects committee and officers to run our affairs for the following year. The committee meets between general meetings as necessary.
Frequency and length:
The CCA has meetings four to six times a year. They run for an hour or two, usually on a Saturday afternoon.
Its committee and officers also meet about two weeks prior to each General Meeting to discuss business, prepare the agenda, and put out any notices which may be necessary.
Meeting dates
In 2026 meetings of the Association will be on the third Saturday of every second month. (Thanks Tracey for correcting the dates.)

Who typically speaks or runs the meeting
The president of the association typically chairs the meeting, or appoints a chair. Other officers and members of the committee deliver reports and take questions on the agenda, which is emailed beforehand and updated on the day. Anyone from the floor is welcome to speak on a particular topic, but may need to check first with chair about which agenda item it fits under.
Agenda, and who to contact to suggest another agenda item
Typical agenda items to be considered at each meeting include:
Minutes of last meeting
Financial reports
Reports on particular projects
Other specific items relevant at the time
General Business (last-minute items are usually added here at the start of the meeting).
What gets put to a vote:
Minutes, financial reports, and certain other issues are put to a vote of those present.
As set out in our Constitution, elections for office-holders (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer) and the committee occur at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) late in the year when there are more nominations than positions vacant, again by vote of those present.
Who can vote
Members who are financial (whose membership fee is up to date) as at the date of a meeting can vote at it.
How Minutes and Agenda get circulated, and when
These documents get circulated to members of the association by email before each meeting, after they have been written up and checked against notes. (Make sure we have a current email address for you!)
