Supporting our Community

Welcome to Currarong, and its Community Association

Currarong Community Association (CCA), founded in 1947, invites you to enjoy our stunning natural setting: the ocean, beaches, native bush, and animal and bird life.

You can fish, surf, dive, bushwalk or simply relax in the sun. There are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) and European heritage sites and shipwrecks reflecting the lengthy history of the area.

Or feeling sporty? Enjoy the public tennis and basketball courts, skate park or play bowls at the club. There’s something for everyone, with sheltered beaches great for kids and families.

About the CCA

The Currarong Community Association has a proud history of supporting the community for over 70 years. While issues and times change, the Association has always been here to convene meetings, to receive and provide information, to lobby council and government (as a recognised Community Consultative Body) for support and funding of local projects, and to organise events and activities.

Our hall provides a great venue at a reasonable cost for events, weddings and celebrations. Fundraising activities have provided money to improve amenities throughout the village and donate to local schools, kids’ sport, and essential services like meals-on-wheels and the Rural Fire Service.

Things we have organised or campaigned for in the past include improvements to the Currarong Road, better access to the base, regular NYE fireworks and improved local services.  Some of these need attention repeatedly; and there are upcoming initiatives like investigating potential for a bicycle path to link up to those elsewhere the region.
